Almost everyone in Nigeria is born a dreamer. The pain for generation after generation is how many of these dreams get aborted.
Not because of laziness on the part of the dreamer, most times, not because of proper planning. Rather, because of helplessness in the face of the challenges that Nigeria is hell-bent on raising for every solution you can conjure.
And why does the Nigerian dreamer have to “conjure” up solutions when he is not a magician? Why do you think magic for entertainment isn’t a big deal in Nigeria?
Simple answer, surviving Nigeria is akin to magic. Everything is a miracle.
You’ve got uninterrupted electricity for a day? Miracle. You go through the university without one ASUU strike lasting more than six months? Miracle. You go around Lagos with a laptop for a year without getting harassed by the police? Miracle. You drive for a stretch of five kilometres without hitting a pothole? Miracle.
Everything people in other countries have come to see as the norm is what the Nigerian dreamer has to pray for every day. Why do you think these dreamers thrive and flourish immediately they step out of the shores of Nigeria?
How do you stop the next generation of dreamers from emigrating when they can see that is the first step to their dreams coming true?
It is so bad that GT who blessed us with dreamer didn’t get to be the top act in Nigeria. He had to go into acting. Then faded out of our national consciousness. Thankfully, he is back in the studios and blessing us musically in more ways than one.
GT Da Guiterman is unarguably a generational talent. Messi and Ronaldo are the GT of football. Leonardo Dicaprio is the GT of Hollywood. That is the easiest way to describe GT for me.
It is a pity that generation after generation might miss out on this dreamer’s anthem because a previous generation failed a once in a generation talent.
The land is green with opportunities; the dreamers are ready; can the government, if they won’t aid them kindly get out of their way?
As a big dreamer, I hope my dreams come true. I hope yours also come true.
Dreamer’s Lyrics
VERSE 1:
So many people….
Are asking, so many questions
Just like me, got nothing to do
Just hoping that one day my dreams will come true
All my life, it’s always on my mind
But not too long it seems that have been dreaming once again
It’s not that I am lazy
It’s not that am not strong
Situation in this nation is giving me no choice
Even though I no fit to give up
But then I just keep asking myself
CHORUS:
When am I gonna be what I wanna be?
When am I gonna see what I wanna see?
Time is ticking and I can wait no more
Do dreams ever come true in this part of this world?
When am I gonna be what I wanna be?
When am I gonna see what I wanna see?
Time is ticking and I can wait no more
Do dreams ever come true in this part of this world?
(I’m a voice in this world, I’m a voice)
VERSE 2:
I’m a voice in this world, I deserve to be heard
I’m a light in this world and I’m gonna shine till d end
Nothing go fit to stop me
I can stand up when am falling
Tough times will never last
But tough people do.
With God on my side, and when I’m heeding to his warnings
I can be what I wanna be when there’s a new day dawning
But I get weary, I’am stick of trying
I’m tired of living and I’m afraid of dieing
I don taya cos to buy garri na waya e
Shebi na when you don chop u go dey think of being a dreamer o
(I can’t wait no more…)
BRIDGE:
